The Power of Coaching

Think of your favourite sports stars; Andy Murray, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Ronnie O’Sullivan – they all used coaches throughout their careers so that they could reach their maximum potential.  Imagine going to the gym and taking one of two options – heading for the exercise bike to do a solo workout, or joining the spinning class. Which of those two options will give you the hardest workout? The spinning class, of course, because the ‘coach’ or spinning instructor at the front will push you to higher levels of performance.

And so it is in business – you probably know exactly what to do, but you’ll do your work more consistently and to a higher level when a business coach is keeping you accountable and pushing you along.

There are 4 occasions when it makes sense to invest in a business coach:

You’re ready to grow. You’ve reached the maximum capacity of you and your team and you need to start implementing systems in your business, or using your time more effectively in order to push past your current plateau. Having a coach by your side at this point will boost your performance.

You know exactly what to do, but you can’t make yourself do it. Procrastination is a terrible thing, but it’s also very common. If you need someone to keep you accountable, a coach will help you define your goals and take action to achieve them.

You’re full of great ideas, but you can’t discuss them with your staff, your bank manager or your partner. A coach is a perfect sounding board, critic and friend that you can share your plans and aspirations with.

You’re feeling a bit overwhelmed. Business ownership can be a lonely place, where the pressures of marketing, sales, finance and recruitment fall to you, even before you’ve actually started doing what’s required to deliver your product or service. A coach will help you to identify the key areas of pressure and to put systems (or people) in place to reduce the load on you. Your best work, which is crucial to business growth, can only happen if you have time and space to think.

Coaching is exceptionally powerful; just think of Andy Murray’s three Grand Slams, Jess’s Olympic Golds or Ronnie’s victories in the Crucible. If you want your business to achieve it’s true potential, take a look at what an ActionCOACH could do for you.
